DINO's Story

DINO is Indiana's leading producer of mountain bike and trail running events.

DINO began in 1990 as a result of a single mountain bike race, called "Gnaw Bone 90". In 1991, several mountain bike races were put together in a series called Do INdiana Off-road, or DINO. The series grew large in the mid-90's - including a brief spread into neighboring states . DINO then changed ownership in the late 90's and offered a smaller list of mountain bike races.

Current owners Brian and Amanda Holzhausen purchased DINO in early 2001. The DINO Trail Run Series was introduced late that year with great success.

In the following years, special events such as XTERRA triathlons, adventure races, and longer endurance trail runs and mountain bike races were added to DINO's calendar. DINO now offers over 20 events per year.

DINO's primary focus is the participant experience. Brian and Amanda, along with many of the race staff, are active participants in the sports we promote. This keeps us in touch with the needs of our participants, such as a high quality course, pre-race facilities, and post-race amenities. We have a passion for the trails we visit throughout our event calendar.

DINO works hard to make each event a family-friendly atmosphere. All ages and abilities are welcome. Regular participants also enjoy a family-like fellowship with other trail fanatics. Each race becomes a reunion of sorts for our trail runners and mountain bike riders.
